New middle school teacher, first impressions: Ms. Cacciapaglia

Where are you coming from?
Last year, Ms. Emily Cacciapaglia was an assistant teacher in first grade at ASL but prior to ASL, she taught Year 6 at a British school. Before her move to London, Ms. Cacciapaglia was a fifth-grade teacher in New York City.

What subject do you teach/ what position do you hold?
Ms. Cacciapaglia is the fifth-grade learning specialist. She supports students in reading, writing, and math, as well as in organizational skills. 

What were/ have been your first impressions of ASL?
Her first impression of ASL was that “it feels like home” because she noticed the similarities between ASL and her previous school in New York City that she worked at. Additionally, she feels as if “everyone is happy to be here: teachers, students.”

What is your favorite part of ASL?
Ms. Cacciapaglia’s favorite part about ASL is being a part of the fifth-grade team because she enjoys collaborating with teachers from different specialties.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
She enjoys travelling, relaxing, and reading, especially because she partakes in a book club. 

What is an interesting fact about you?
Ms. Cacciapaglia was in the Junior Olympics for swimming.
