The grade 8 boys basketball team participated in t The grade 8 boys basketball team participated in the end-of-season LSSA Festival on March 2 winning all three of their games. They ended the regular season undefeated, including winning the International School of Aberdeen tournament in February. Although the winter sports season in the middle school is now officially over, the grade 8 boys basketball team's season has been extended because they have qualified for the London Youth Games U14 Final Four on March 27.

Several middle school students held a bake sale on Several middle school students held a bake sale on March 3 during recess to raise money for people living in Turkey after the recent earthquakes. Students then enjoyed treats during their recess time while contributing to a good cause. Organizers agreed it was very successful and they'd love to do more events like this in the future.

The Middle School celebrates the Lunar New Year at The Middle School celebrates the Lunar New Year at recess on January 23rd. Students engaged in festive games, challenges and listened to music. Happy Lunar New Year to families that celebrate!
The Middle School celebrates the last day before t The Middle School celebrates the last day before the holidays with an exciting assembly. Students were recognized for achievements, we heard special performances from the 8th grade choir and orchestra, a goodbye was held to those leaving this semester, and students were surprised with a song from their teachers. Many felt it was a wonderful way to spend the last school day of 2022.
Middle School students celebrate the first snow of Middle School students celebrate the first snow of the school year with snow ball fights, playing soccer and enjoying the wintery weather view. Many said it was a great start to the last week of this semester.
Students celebrate American Thanksgiving at lunch Students celebrate American Thanksgiving at lunch on November 22 with traditional turkey, potatoes, veggies, and pumpkin pie for dessert. Many felt that it was a fun way to spend the last school day before the short holiday.
Last week, The Scroll editors attended the Nationa Last week, The Scroll editors attended the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) convention in St. Louis, Missouri! At this event, several awards were announced and distributed. This years’ November issue of The Scroll achieved a first place NSPA Best in Show award. Last years’ issues of The Scroll won a Pacemaker Finalist Plaque, meaning that they were among the best nominees of the competition. Another award was the Pacemaker 100. One year ago, NSPA turned 100 years old. Last year, in commemoration of this event, they went into their records to find all past Pacemaker award winners. The 100 middle and high newspapers with the most Pacemakers were complied—and The Scroll was on that list! Although they didn’t contribute to this achievement, our current Scroll editors received this award on behalf of previous award-winning editors. Additionally, many Scroll editors and staff won individual writing and media awards. These awards consisted of Middle School Design, Broadcast Story, and Broadcast of the Year; as well as Awards of Excellency in Review and Sports writing and Honorable Mentions in the First Year Photo and Features Writing categories. #eagles #thescroll #theamericanschoolinlondon
