After five years of working at ASL, PE teacher Mr. Rich Harris will be leaving at the end of the year. Mr. Harris first came to ASL as the assistant athletic director, and then he made the switch to being a middle school PE teacher. He also has had multiple roles in coaching, including time as the assistant coach for the high school girls varsity basketball team and high school varsity boys basketball team.

Mr. Harris will be moving to Dhahran Elementary/Middle School in Saudi Arabia. This is one the seven schools that make up the International Schools Group in Saudi Arabia. He has a two-year contract for teaching PE for grades 4-8.

One reason he has decided to leave ASL is that he misses the warmth of Saudi Arabia. Also, his new school will pay all of his expenses.

“My time at ASL was awesome, and I learned so much about teaching PE with great colleagues and great administrators,” said Mr. Harris. “I hope one day, perhaps after my two-year commitment in Saudi Arabia, ASL will hire me again to teach MS PE and coach basketball.”
