New middle school teacher, first impressions: Ms. Culling

Where are you coming from?
Ms. Helen Culling is originally from the UK and worked in different parts of the UK before working at ASL, both in performing arts schools, as well as non-performing arts schools.

What subject do you teach/ what position do you hold?
Ms. Culling teaches MS and HS dance.

What were/ have been your first impressions of ASL?
Ms. Culling has had very positive first impressions of ASL. “[Everyone has been] very welcoming, very friendly, very helpful.” She also explained her initial struggle of navigating her way around such a big school.

What is your favorite part of ASL?
“So far, it has been the teaching and the students.” Ms. Culling feels that she has a wide range of ability levels in her classes and she appreciates students’ open-mindedness and willingness to try new things.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Since Ms. Culling is a mom, in her free time, she “has duties to her little boy.” She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cooking, going to the movies, and getting outside, whether it is hiking or snowboarding.

What is an interesting fact about you?
Ms. Culling was born on April Fools Day.
