Leaving teachers reflect on their time at ASL

Ms. Francesca Marr, MS General program and After School Activities Assistant

Why are you leaving ASL?
I am leaving because I’m about to go back to university to become a paramedic.

How long have you been at ASL?
I have been at ASL for three years now.

What was your best memory at ASL?
I’ve enjoyed watching the students grow up through the grades of middle school; it’s been fun to see how people have changed and grown.

Mr. Eric Piccirelli, MS Music Teacher

Why are you leaving ASL?
I signed a contract for one year maternity cover for Ms. Anna Salmi and she’s coming back and so now I can go try something else.

How long have you been at ASL?
Just for this year.

What was your best memory at ASL?
My best memory was probably the spring music tour for high school. We went to Barcelona. It was a lot of fun. We got to do a lot cool stuff.

Mrs. Leah Duggan, Grade 6 Learning Specialist

Why are you leaving ASL?
I’m leaving because I’m having a baby in August, and I’m coming back at the end of March.

How long have you been at ASL?
This is my sixth year.

What was your best memory at ASL?
I think my first grade 6 school trip to Hadrian’s wall in Northumberland is a fond memory and learning all about the Romans and how they travelled all the way that far by foot and boat. That experience with the kids and other teachers was really amazing and to see the British countryside was really interesting because I had never seen that before in my first year here.

Mrs. Karen Richardson, Grade 5 SLD Teacher

Why are you leaving ASL?
I am not leaving ASL, but moving from the Middle School to the Lower School.

How long have you been at ASL?
I have been at ASL for 9 years – two years in the Lower School and 7 years in Middle School.

What was your best memory at ASL?
My best memory here at ASL has been seeing my students become excited about learning, whether inside the classroom or on trips. I love the notes that my students have written to me about how much they have grown as a learner and in 2015, my advisory threw me a surprise baby shower – the details that they considered from the incredible cake, games, and decorations was so truly special!
